Domaines Paul Mas is one of the best-known names in the Languedoc, with wines that reflect the richness and diversity of southern France. Across more than 600 hectares of vineyards, together with long-standing grower partnerships, Jean-Claude Mas works with a wide range of grape varieties and terroirs shaped by the Mediterranean climate and varied soils of the region. At Vintage Roots, we’ve selected a small but distinctive organic part of this family-owned portfolio – expressive wines with freshness, character and a strong sense of place.

Mas des Tannes, near Pézenas, is a 36-hectare estate managed biodynamically, set on rolling ground at around 120 metres above sea level. Sheltered by pine forest and fragrant garrigue, just 9 km from the Mediterranean, it enjoys the warmth of the southern climate tempered by cooling northern breezes. The clay-limestone soils are alive with organic matter, and the vineyards, never exposed to synthetic products, produce fruit of real concentration and health. The resulting wines are balanced, generous and deeply expressive.

Arrogant Frog comes from 20 hectares in Limoux, including 15 organically farmed hectares and 5 certified by Terra Vitis. Near the village of Gaja-et-Villedieu, these north-facing vineyards sit at 200 metres altitude in one of the parts of Limoux most influenced by the maritime climate. Here, clay-limestone and stony clay soils help produce grapes of freshness and finesse, destined for both AOP Limoux and IGP Pays d’Oc wines. All fruit is harvested by hand.

Cuvée Secrète offers a particularly pure expression of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, grown organically and blended with precision. Made without added sulphur, it shows the fruit in an especially unadorned and vivid way.
