Description
Smooth, soft and very well crafted Chardonnay wine from the Limoux area of Languedoc, southern France. Bright, golden yellow in colour, it’s a mellow and elegant offering with ripe pineapple flavours, married with toasted nuts and hints of lime blossom. Tropical and ‘new world’ in style, the four week fermentation is carried out 80% in stainless steel, and 20% in American oak, followed by three months lees ageing. The resulting wines are then blended. Paul Mas is well known and respected in southern France, and we are pleased to be listing his organic Arrogant Frog range. Enjoy this Chardonnay within three years of bottling, and the longer you keep it, the more buttery and waxier it will get. Chill lightly and try with seafood and fish dishes, quiche or white meats.

- 88 Points, Tom Cannavan’s Wine-Pages.com, ‘Despite the name, which doesn’t do much for me, this was lovely: in a Mâcon style with a little warming toast and vanilla note, and Burgundian clarity showing some cream and very fresh apple and melon fruit before a crisp finish.‘ July 2016 (2014 vintage)
About the Estate
Domaines Paul Mas is one of the great names of the Languedoc, combining deep regional heritage with Jean-Claude Mas’ modern, expressive winemaking style. Based near Pézenas, the family-owned estate works across a remarkable range of southern French terroirs, producing wines that are polished, generous and full of character. We work with Jean-Claude on a small but distinctive part of the wider portfolio, including biodynamically managed Mas des Tannes, organically farmed Arrogant Frog from Limoux and Cuvée Secrète – a no-added-sulphur blend that gives a particularly pure expression of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Across the range, Paul Mas wines offer ripe fruit, smooth textures and easy charm, making them especially appealing for those who enjoy a more generous, modern southern French style.

Reviews
An unusual but satisfying chardonnay, more interesting than the standard new world equivilant.
