Description
This 30 ha vineyard (74 acres) in Montagnac prides itself on its privileged setting. It is protected by pine trees and the garrigue and nourished by the mild climate of the Mediterranean Sea, which is nearby, and the healthy northern wind. A new no added sulphur red from the quality-focused estate of Paul Mas which for the first time has been made in the “natural” style. Full-bodied and chunky with rich brambley fruit and intense spice fruit flavours. A blend of Grenache, Merlot and Syrah.

About the Estate
Domaines Paul Mas is one of the great names of the Languedoc, combining deep regional heritage with Jean-Claude Mas’ modern, expressive winemaking style. Based near Pézenas, the family-owned estate works across a remarkable range of southern French terroirs, producing wines that are polished, generous and full of character. We work with Jean-Claude on a small but distinctive part of the wider portfolio, including biodynamically managed Mas des Tannes, organically farmed Arrogant Frog from Limoux and Cuvée Secrète – a no-added-sulphur blend that gives a particularly pure expression of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Across the range, Paul Mas wines offer ripe fruit, smooth textures and easy charm, making them especially appealing for those who enjoy a more generous, modern southern French style.

2018 vintage. Shortly after opening this bottle, the scent and taste were flat and boring. One hour later the taste started to improve to a great deep taste. It continued like this until the bottle was finished three hours after opening. The scent did not improve. I intend buying more.

The 2018 vintage. Perfect as we move from ice cold whites to the season full of mellow fruitfulness. Lovely smooth, rich, bramble fruit. A good finish with a touch of black pepper.

This wine is smooth, delicious and superb from the start of the bottle to the end, hic! Waverley Hills was my favourite until I tried this and it is currently at a fair price.
