Our Organic Credentials and Ethical Beliefs

From day one, ever since we were founded by Neil and Lance in 1986, we have only worked with certified organic wines and drinks, meaning every product we sell is accompanied by the appropriate organic certification. In this way, our customers can be absolutely confident that anything they buy from us meets the necessary legal requirement to be called ‘organic’ according to the standards of the UK’s Organic Food Federation.

We believe in our range of organic wines and so does the wine trade, wine judges and wine critics alike. Over the last few years, Vintage Roots and our wines have won a large number of awards. In 2015, the Drinks Business named us Green Retailer of the Year, and in 2018 our own-label Wild Thing wine range, developed in association with the Born Free Foundation, received a sustainability award at the Green Awards. In addition, Decanter, the leading wine magazine, has voted us the UK’s ‘Best Specialist Merchant’, and a number of the organic winemakers we work with have also received prestigious recognition and awards, such as Domaines Paul Mas winning ‘Best French Producer’ at the Mundus Vini awards a handful of times now, and Domaine Bousquet winning best ‘Red Wine Producer’ at the 2023 International Wine & Spirit Competition, along with many others.

The environment, how we trade and who we trade with are all very important to us. Have a look at how we care for the environment beyond organic here.
