Description
The perfect marriage of Rhône and Provencal influences with the higher altitude giving freshness and elegance to the wine. Very unique with 80% Syrah and with a large dollop of Viognier, a white varietal. The rich and powerful Syrah combined with the exotically perfumed Viognier gives a touch of flower and tangerine to this silky textured deep red that’s absolutely delicious.
About the Estate
Chateau Rousett is located up in the hills of ‘Alpes de Haute Provence’ and has been run by the same family since 1825. The estate and Château have quite a history, from silkworms, to sheep farm and then in the 1950s vines were planted thank goodness! The vines have been organic for over five years now, and this, coupled with their special and unique location on the geologically significant Valensole plateau, helps them to make stunningly expressive wines. Varietals that flourish in the lower Rhône and Provence are focused on, including Viognier, Syrah and Vermentino.
