Description
This organic French red reveals a beautiful blend of Syrah and Grenache picked from the foothills of the Montagne Noire in the Minervois. Cultivated according to organic principles in order to protect the soil and vines, L’Autan is very expressive on the nose with smoky and dark black fruits. Inky purple in the glass, this is a truly voluptuous red that’s smooth and generous with fine notes of spicy blackcurrant and red berries.
About the Estate
Recognised by Wine Spectator as one of the most environmentally friendly wineries in the world, Château Maris is the project of Bertie Eden, one of the early pioneers of organic and biodynamic winemaking in the Languedoc. After working across some of the world’s most renowned wine regions, he fell under the spell of La Livinière and established the estate in 1997, determined to make wines that are both terroir-driven and environmentally responsible.
That philosophy runs through the whole estate. In the vineyard, every decision is shaped by long-term care for the land, and even in the winery itself, where hemp bricks, solar power and a naturally low-energy design form a remarkable carbon-negative cellar. In the cellar, a thoughtful, low-intervention approach allows the wines to express the freshness, depth and wild beauty of La Livinière.
