Description
Nicolas Brunet’s Fleur de Silex is a dry Vouvray from the Loire, made from Chenin Blanc grown on flint-rich soils. Full-bodied yet fresh, it brings ripe apple, yellow plum and quince-like fruit, balanced by fine mineral acidity and a crisp, lingering finish. Fermented with wild yeasts, this is a characterful, food-friendly white with depth and complexity. Serve chilled with roast chicken, creamy lemon dishes, goats’ cheese, richer salads or lightly spiced vegetable dishes.
About the Estate
Domaine Nicolas Brunet is a small, quality-focused estate in Vouvray, in the Loire Valley, where the Brunet family has been growing vines for nine generations. The domaine works with around 17 hectares of Chenin Blanc vines on Vouvray’s classic clay-limestone and flint-rich soils, with harvesting carried out by hand. Nicolas Brunet farms with a strong respect for the vine and the environment, using practices that limit treatments, avoid weedkillers and encourage healthy soils. Much of the estate is certified organic from the 2023 vintage onwards, and the wines are made with indigenous yeasts in traditional troglodyte cellars carved into the local tuffeau limestone. The result is expressive, characterful Vouvray wines with freshness, texture and a clear sense of place.
