Description
Crémants continue to grow in popularity as a great value alternative to Champagne, as they’re made in a similar way. This is a high-quality sparkling wine/Crémant from Burgundy from long-term pioneering organic producers Pierre d’Heilly et Martine Huberdeau. From 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 20% Aligoté, it’s both elegant and fresh with a beautiful golden hue. Fine bubbles provide a silky mouthfeel and carry candied fruit and buttered toast notes along with uplifting, refreshing acidity.
- Gold Winner, Concours National des Crémants, April 2024
About the Estate
Martine and Pierre met on the benches of the University of Rennes. They studied ecology and became aware of looming environmental issues and the impact human practices were having on nature and biodiversity. Love flourished, and when the opportunity to settle down in life presented itself in Burgundy, in an agricultural environment, a wine adventure came as an obvious choice. In 1978, they combined their family names to create the D’Heilly-Huberdeau estate. Situated in the Côte Chalonnaise, which extends over 35 kilometers between the Mâconnais in the South and the Côte de Beaune in the North, the soils here are predominantly clay and limestone.
Organic since 1983 and producing their first Cremant de Bourgogne wine in 1986 (the year Vintage Roots was born) we are thrilled to be listing them again after a gap of over 20 years! They are now joined by their son Lucas and long may they continue producing delicious organic Burgundy wines.
