Description
A great value Premier Cru Champagne from a small two-hectare vineyard. Made from 100% hard-sorted Chardonnay, it’s light and fresh with fine bubbles, notes of buttered brioche and toasted hazelnuts with zesty acidity and a creamy mouthfeel. As a quality guarantee, the Premier Cru appellation for Champagnes has only been awarded to some 40 odd communes in the region.
About the Estate
Champagne Michel de Belvas was born to highlight a sector of the Terroir Vertusien. Its name comes from the first name of the winegrower Michel Rutat associated with the name of the Vertus wine hillside, "La côte des Belvas". They have 12 plots altogether, with loamy soils in the lower parts and clay-limestone in the middle, which allows their vines to produce balanced grapes and provides a fine minerality to their Champagnes. In 2016 they decided to convert the entire vineyard to organic viticulture, having received their organic certification at the end of the 2019 harvest.
