Sourced from a well-established organic estate in central Spain, the Wild Thing Merlot is a beautiful Spanish wine offering an instantly appealing mix of damson plum and blackberry fruit. Supple, pure, relaxed and juicy, it’s intended for immediate drinking. The light, ripe tannins mean that the wine can be enjoyed on its own or with many of your favourite dishes.

About the estate
‘Wild Thing’ has been developed exclusively for The Born Free Foundation by Vintage Roots. The name and label have been specially chosen to reflect how the wine is not only there to be enjoyed, but also to raise funds for wildlife. ‘The name Wild Thing so perfectly reflects the wines’ organic origins and the company’s concern for the environment and wildlife. We are thrilled that Wild Thing is to be sold in aid of Born Free to directly benefit conservation and animal welfare. Initiated in 2010, the range now includes a Sauvignon Blanc, a Merlot, a Rosé (all sourced from a well-established organic winery in La Mancha, Spain) and a Prosecco (sourced from our friends Giol in N.E. Italy) as well as two, six and twelve bottle mixed cases. The Born Free Foundation is a dynamic international wildlife charity, founded in 1984 by the actors Bill Travers MBE and Virginia McKenna OBE, stars of the iconic film Born Free, and their son, Will Travers OBE, the charity’s President. Born Free takes action worldwide to save lives, stop suffering and protect species in the wild. Born Free never forgets the individual. From small beginnings, the Born Free Foundation has grown into a global force for wildlife, but a personal passion for wild animals and desire for positive change remain at their heart. Born Free is determined to try to halt the race to extinction by protecting rare species in their natural habitat. Excellent wine
I was given a bottle for Christmas and enjoyed every drop. Full of flavour and really smooth. Not only organic but in support of a great cause. I would definitely buy this wine for myself (too good to give as a present).

I didn’t find this wine had a ‘full flavour’ as did the previous reviewer. It was quite light and not wonderful but all right.
