There are two styles of Merlots: 1. International style -- Grown in warm climates to increase ripeness and produce full-bodied wines of an inky purple colour, with higher alcohol, smoother tannins, and flavours of blackberry and plum. 2.
Bordeaux style -- Growing Merlot in cooler climates can maintain the acidity of the wine and produce medium-bodied wines with middling alcohol levels and flavours of fresh red fruits (raspberries and strawberries)--with the potential for more vegetal and leafy notes.Organic Merlot wine is a star performer in its own right, thanks to the hallmark soft and juicy plum flavours and smooth tannins. Very easy drinking, Merlot is a great choice when entertaining.
