Description
A superb Rhône red from the family-run estate Maison Plantevin. Grenache and Syrah lead the blend, with smaller portions of Carignan and Cinsault adding lift and intrigue. All fruit is hand-harvested, with natural fermentation and no oak – the focus is firmly on purity and drinkability. The result is an authentic, unfussy Rhône red that’s all about fruit and balance. Soft and generous, with smooth cherry and dried plum, touches of black pepper, and subtle hints of spice. Gentle tannins and fresh acidity keep things bright and easygoing, making this dangerously moreish.
- Featured by Brian Eliot, the Daily Record, “Perhaps because of its organic origins, this just oozes authenticity and the feeling that classy Rhône reds seem to convey. Its dash of Carignan adds something attractive while the lack of oaking allows the fruit components to shine through brightly. Soft with spicy and smoky aromas, it brings us smooth cherry, dried plum and black pepper flavours coupled with muted tannin, enlivening acidity and suggestions of cinnamon and juniper.” (2023 vintage)
About the Estate
Located in the Southern Rhône in the village of Seguret, Maison Plantevin now own a total of 40ha of vineyards focusing primarily on both Syrah and Grenache. Starting from humble beginnings in his father's shed back in 2007, Laurent now vinifies his hand-harvested grapes in a new purpose-built winery. Their wines are blended to express the specific terroir of each individual vineyard plot.
