About the Estate
Bodegas Piqueras is a fourth-generation estate, founded in 1915 in Almansa, southeastern Spain. Its dry, semi-desert climate is well suited to organic winemaking, with abundant sunshine, low disease pressure and cool nights that help preserve freshness. Head winemaker Juan Pablo Canto Serrano brings impressive experience, having trained with Vega Sicilia in Spain and later at Villa Maria Estate in New Zealand – influences that shaped his focus on fruit purity, freshness and careful protection from oxidation. The estate works with traditional Almansa grapes including Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell, with old bush vines, high-altitude vineyards and a strong focus on biodiversity, including sheep grazing and natural fertilisation. This low-intervention approach continues in the cellar, including wines made with no added sulphites and naturally minimal sulphur levels. Shop all Bodegas Piqueras here >>
