Description
Overlooked by the Dentelles de Montmirail rocky peaks to the northeast of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Vacqueyras was promoted to Rhône cru status in 1990. Many consider these wines to be as good as those from their more famous neighbour. Here the stony alluvial soils and glacial terraces of the Riss retain heat and aid the ripening of the Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre grapes. This supple Rhône Valley red is ripe, full and rounded with concentrated framboise notes on both the nose and palate. Instantly attractive, full of energy with super clean elegant fruit, edged with baked herbs. Delicious with hearty foods.
About the Estate
Founded in 1929, Cave de Cairanne is located in the heart of the Southern Rhône Valley Crus, in the Vaucluse department, on the left bank of the Rhône, close to the main flagship appellations of the Côtes du Rhône including Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueyras. The 65 winegrowers of the Cave pass on their passion for the land from generation to generation and work some 550 hectares of vines to produce quality wines with the Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages, Villages Plan de Dieu, Cru Cairanne, Cru Rasteau appellations as well as organic and sulfur-free wines.
