Easter Lunch Wines for 2025

If you’re after wine ideas for Easter lunch then look no further! From wines to roast lamb to roast chicken and more, we’ve got some mouthwatering combinations in store🍷
Roast lamb is a popular centrepiece for Easter lunch, along with other things like roast chicken, roast ham, vegetarian mains, and fish dishes too. In this blog post, we’ll provide you with Easter lunch wine pairings to make this time of year even more special.
Easter Starters or Brunch
Your Easter starter might be a nice warm soup or perhaps some tartines or hors-d’œuvres of sorts, or maybe even a quiche. For this, we recommend something bubbly, as sparkling wines are extremely food-friendly and tend to pair well with eggs made in so many ways, from scrambled to benedict variations too. Tartines are often made with things like smoked fish or cheeses, and again, bubbles can be a great way to go here and they are simply a nice way to get the party started.
This year we’re recommending Albet i Noya’s Efecte Brut Reserva for an Easter fizz. This top-class Penedes sparkler won Best in Class/Show at the 2024 Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships (2021 vintage).

Easter Lunch Wines for Roast Lamb
There are plenty of options for red wines that pair well with roast lamb, an Easter lunch favourite. As a richer meat with a higher fat content, a richer red is your best bet. Go for any of the following reds:
- A mature red Bordeaux or Rioja (Crianza or Reserva)
- Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc or Malbec
- Italian reds like Chianti Classico
- Full bodied reds from the Rhone Valley or the Languedoc
- Try orange wines for something different
As you can see, plenty of options, here are four organic reds perfect for roast lamb. With its intense aromas of ripe red and black fruits and hints of earthy spice, this Bordeaux fits the bill.

For Easter lunch wines for roast ham or gammon, lighter fruitier reds like Beaujolais or Pinot Noir work, as do some whites.
- Fruitier reds like Beaujoulais, Pinot Noir or Grenache
- Aromatic whites like Gewurztraminer or Riesling, or crisp ones like Sauvignon Blanc

Rosé & Orange Wines
You don’t have to stick with whites or reds for dishes like roast ham or chicken – rosé wines can be extremely versatile food pairing wines, along with orange wines too!
Easter Lunch Fish Dishes
For fish dishes like fish pie, stick to whites, Chardonnay is a safe bet for a dish like fish pie.
What about vegetarian mains?
If you look at the BBC Good Food’s Easter vegetarian section, the first few recipes to come up are pies and galettes with ingredients like cheese, spring onions, courgette, etc. It’s hard to recommend just a few wines to go with all vegetarian mains as their flavours and ingredients can vary a lot.
However, for a pie or quiche with ingredients like leeks or spring onions, we’d recommend a crisp dry white such as a Sauvignon Blanc or even a Riesling or light Chardonnay could work well too.
What about desserts and chocolate?
Simnel cake, chocolate torte, easter eggs and chocolate … there are organic dessert wines or organic liqueurs to match whatever your sweet delight is. With us since last year, Walcher’s Hazelnut Cream Liqueur would be heavenly alongside milk chocolates of all kinds, or simply drink over ice.

For something a little more unique, Guy Pinard AOC Pineau des Charentes would be a good choice for darker chocolates or richer cakes, or as an Easter aperitif too.
