What makes a good warm weather wine?
The best warm-weather wines tend to be fresh, bright and easy to serve chilled. Crisp whites, dry rosé and sparkling wines are natural choices, but lighter reds can also work beautifully with a short spell in the fridge. Spritz-style drinks and lower-alcohol bottles are also useful for summer gatherings, especially when you want something refreshing and easy to pour.
For BBQs, picnics, garden drinks or relaxed warm weather dinners, look for wines with freshness, gentle fruit, good acidity and a lighter feel. Serve whites, rosés, fizz and spritz well chilled, and give lighter reds around 20-30 minutes in the fridge before serving.
